What Are The Differences Between Teeth Whitening And Porcelain Veneers?

At the Schultz Center For Dentistry, we offer a variety of dental treatments to help our patients enhance their smiles. One of the more common questions we receive is whether teeth whitening or porcelain veneers is the better option for certain dental concerns. While both procedures can improve the appearance of the teeth, they each differ in unique ways that should be carefully considered before selecting one procedure over the other.

A professional teeth whitening treatment is one way to achieve a whiter smile and is commonly used to remove surface stains from the teeth. We offer both in-office and at-home whitening systems to effectively diminish discoloration using Opalescence Boost whitening gel. This treatment can lighten the teeth by several shades, as well as offer protection against cavities.

We also offer custom dental veneers at our practice to cover perceived imperfections amongst the teeth such as stains, gaps, cracks, or chips. If your teeth reflect deep stains or if previous whitening treatments have failed to address discolorations, porcelain veneers may be an ideal alternative solution.

A customized porcelain veneer is a durable, thin shell that is affixed to the front of the affected tooth. It is stain-resistant and designed to completely mask the existing discoloration while resulting in a fresher, healthier-looking tooth.

During your consultation, Dr. Jeffrey Schultz can recommend the dental treatment that will work best for your teeth and your aesthetic desires. To schedule an appointment, please contact our Houston dental office so we may further assist you.
