Full & Partial Dentures in Bellaire, TX

Our goal at the Schultz Center for Dentistry is to provide you with the tools and guidance you need to maintain a healthy smile. There are many areas in which we can help you, and one that’s particularly important is to replace missing teeth with an option like natural-looking dentures.

Benefits of Replacing Missing Teeth with Dentures

The presence of a tooth keeps surrounding teeth in place, but when you lose one or more, remaining teeth naturally start to drift into the open space and lead to complicated oral issues. Cleaning thoroughly between crowded and crooked teeth can be a challenge, putting you at risk for tooth decay and periodontal (gum), disease and the potential loss of more teeth.

If you have missing teeth a full or partial denture will help restore function so you can chew comfortably and speak clearly again. The dentures also fill out your face providing a foundation for the lips and cheeks to prevent them from drooping.

If you have visions of fake-looking teeth, you will be pleased to hear that we design dentures that actually improve your appearance. Our doctors will work with you to customize the shape, shade, and positioning of each tooth in a gum-colored base. We work closely with skilled technicians at our custom dental lab who will create your dentures to our exact specifications.

Types of Dentures We Offer

If all the teeth in an upper or lower arch are missing, Dr. Schultz would recommend a full denture in one of two types, either conventional or immediate.

  • Conventional - With conventional dentures, your teeth are extracted, and your gums are left to heal for four to eight weeks before we position the denture.
  • Immediate - As the name implies, we fit "immediate" dentures as soon as we extract your teeth. The advantage of immediate dentures is that you don't have to go without teeth; a disadvantage is that immediate dentures will need to be relined or adjusted once your mouth has fully healed.
  • Removable partial - If you are missing a few teeth, another option we offer to fill the gaps and improve your smile is a removable partial denture, also called a removable bridge made of acrylic resin, metal, or a combination of the two.
  • Implant-supported dentures - For the ultimate in stability and comfort, Dr. Schultz designs implant-supported dentures. He places implants in your jaw at certain points where they are left to heal for several months. Your dentures are then fabricated with attachments that snap onto the implants for a look, fit, and feel that’s as close to natural teeth as possible.
