Whether you’re considering straightening your teeth for the first time or you had orthodontic treatment as a child but didn’t wear your retainer, we offer several options for straightening your teeth without the need for metal braces.

We offer both Invisalign and ClearCorrect invisible braces that straighten teeth discreetly and in less time than treatment with traditional metal braces. Both use clear aligner trays that are customized to move your teeth gently into the desired position. Dr. Jeffrey Schultz plans your treatment by taking digital impressions of your teeth that he uses with specialized software to predict how your teeth will move through treatment.

Based on this information, several sets of aligners are created, and he will instruct you to wear each set for about two weeks, then advance to the next in the series. Invisalign and ClearCorrect are similar, but you might be interested to know that ClearCorrect aligners are made right here in Texas!

PowerProx Six Month Braces are an innovative way to move teeth and is a new take on traditional orthodontic treatment. It uses discreet clear brackets and archwires to move teeth into a more desirable position. Unlike conventional braces, PowerProx lightens the force applied to move teeth and actually results in faster, more comfortable tooth movement. Because of the unique method, we have helped patients enjoy a better smile in as little as six months.

All-on-4 Teeth in a Day

Full and partial dentures are a time-tested method for replacing missing teeth, and they have helped millions of people regain chewing function and restore a more youthful appearance. Unfortunately, since dentures are prosthetics that sit on top of your gums and rely on suction for stability, they tend to be uncomfortable and shift and move unexpectedly.

Fortunately, today we have the option of stabilizing dentures with state-of-the-art dental implants. A dental implant is a titanium replacement root that Dr. Jeffrey Schultz places surgically in your jaw and left to heal over several months. As it heals, it fuses with surrounding bone and tissue and becomes part of your dental structure.

When we use them to stabilize dentures, Dr. Jeffrey Schultz places several implants at strategic points along your jaw. After the implants heal, your new denture is customized to attach securely to the implants. Since your denture gains stability from the implants, it won’t shift or move and can only be removed by Dr. Schultz.

Dr. Schultz is highly trained and experienced in dental implant placement, so you have the comfort of knowing that he will handle the entire process from start to finish here in our comfortable Houston, TX dental office.

If you are interested in learning how we can help you get rid of ill-fitting and unstable dentures, please call us to arrange a consultation. With our implant-supported dentures, we’ll have you smiling confidently in no time!

Dental Implants

While it is well-known that doctors advocate against using tobacco products because of their adverse effect on overall health, recent research shows that tobacco can also severely impact the success rate of dental implants.

Although dental implants are typically a stable, secure, and natural-looking solution for tooth loss, smoking can cause the failure rate of an implant to skyrocket. According to one study, the average failure rate for a dental implant is 1.4 percent for non-smokers. For dental implant patients who also smoke regularly, the implant failure rate jumped to 15.8 percent.

Also, the success of dental implants relies on the patient maintaining good oral hygiene and possessing adequate jawbone density to hold the titanium implant securely in place. Since smoking can significantly compromise the oral health of the patient as well as weaken the bone structure of the jaw, the use of tobacco products exhibits a strong correlation to implant failure.

If you are considering dental implants in Houston, TX to replace a missing tooth or as an alternative to traditional dentures, Dr. Jeffrey Schultz recommends smoking cessation to help ensure the success of your new smile.

General Dentistry

We see both adults and children. Children may be referred to a pediatric dentist if it is indicated.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are a conservative cosmetic treatment designed to restore the appearance of your teeth. With the ability to conceal numerous cosmetic imperfections, porcelain veneers are a durable, long-lasting method of achieving a brighter, more even, and youthful smile.

Candidates for porcelain veneers often wish to address common dental concerns, including:

  • Chips
  • Cracks
  • Gaps
  • Discoloration
  • Worn teeth
  • Uneven teeth

Additionally, porcelain veneers also can correct the appearance of mild tooth misalignment.

Porcelain veneers are composed of a thin but strong ceramic material that is applied to the surface of the tooth, covering most imperfections. Since your porcelain veneers will be custom-made to match the color and shape of your surrounding teeth, the results from the procedure can look both beautiful and natural.

The materials used for porcelain veneers are stain resistant, reflect light similarly to natural tooth enamel and often provide patients with a boost in confidence. With proper care and maintenance, our patients at Schultz Center for Dentistry can enjoy their new smiles for decades.

If you would like to learn more about porcelain veneers in Houston, TX, or if you would like to schedule a consultation with Dr. Schultz, please contact our office today.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Treatment

Many individuals with sleep apnea might not even know they have it. However, some signs and symptoms may help detect this condition. In most cases, a person’s loved one will be the first to notice these signs, as loud snoring and gasping for air while sleeping are common telltale signs of sleep apnea. Some other symptoms can include:

  • Forgetfulness
  • Irritability
  • Fatigue or drowsiness during the day
  • Daytime headaches
  • Pauses in breath while asleep
  • Waking up with a sore throat and dry mouth
  • Inability to concentrate during the day

Sleep apnea is a pause in breathing that occurs when the soft tissues at the back of the throat (and the tongue) relax during sleep and prevent the proper flow of air. While the airway is partially or entirely blocked, the vibration of these tissues causes snoring, and the body may jerk as the muscles fight to pull more air into the lungs.

If you believe you or a loved one may be affected by sleep apnea, we recommend scheduling a sleep study to receive a proper diagnosis from a medical doctor. Once diagnosed, Dr. Jeffrey Schultz can help treat the condition, preventing the potentially severe health risks associated with sleep apnea, and ultimately leading to an improved quality of sleep.

If you suspect you have sleep apnea and would like to meet with Dr. Schultz, please call our Houston dental practice to schedule a consultation.

Teeth Whitening

With professional-grade bleaching agents, the results of our teeth whitening treatments can be dazzling and give your smile a bright new appearance. Opalescence Boost in-office treatment and Opalescence at-home kits are two popular whitening procedures that provide our patients at Schultz Center for Dentistry with easy options to remove surface stains and deeper-set discoloration. A common question our patients ask when considering these treatments is how long they can expect their smile to remain bright.

For most patients, the results of Opalescence Boost – a one-hour in-office treatment – typically last from 6 to 12 months. Factors that can influence the duration of your results may include:

  • Drinks that cause staining such as coffee, tea, and wine
  • Foods that cause staining such as blueberries and blackberries
  • Smoking habits
  • Oral hygiene habits

By avoiding food and drink that are known to stain teeth as well as smoking or chewing tobacco, you can extend the results of your whitening. Brushing, flossing, and rinsing as instructed by Dr. Jeffrey Schultz can also remove surface stains from the teeth and prolong your results.

Finally, many of our patients choose to use custom-made trays combined with the Opalescence at-home whitening kit to perform touch-up treatments when they notice their results beginning to fade. While it is impossible to predict with complete accuracy how your teeth will respond to professional whitening, Dr. Schultz will monitor your progress and help you reach your cosmetic goal of a brighter, whiter smile.
